Steins;Gate is a 2009 science fiction visual novel game developed by 5pb. and Nitroplus. It is the second game in the Science Adventure series, following Chaos;Head. The story follows a group of students as they discover and develop technology that gives them the means to change the past. The gameplay in Steins;Gate includes branching scenarios with courses of interaction.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Well i didn't want to write the review before i finished with all the endings, so here we are after 115 hours of aprox gameplay (more like 100 of actual gameplay), i took my time because i enjoy having a conversation with the characters, in the end what's the point of a visual novel if i play it like a book? Well none, not to me. Technicalities aside. As many of those who've played the VN in the last ten years, i watched the anime first. But nothing compares to the experience the VN offers. The way every day i could appreciate the soundtrack, so much it made me want to play it in piano, is just superb. Playing every ending, learning about each character in a rhythm that feels natural, and the pace... the anime is of course an easy drink, but the VN is a slow one... If the anime is like a soda, the VN is like a strong scotch, hard to swallow fast, pure pleasure slowly... The feeling of progression and chatter with all the characters is simply a unique experience and i couldn't be more grateful for being able in my life to experience this, specially at a pace that feels human and natural to me... There's plenty of corny stuff i could say about my experience, but i'll leave that to each one who understands the feeling of being part of a story... sometimes Okabe, sometimes Kyouma, sometimes an otaku, sometimes a kid, a student, a sad man or myself... For me Steins Gate represents, now, that experience that has become a milestone in my gaming life and something i will always cherish, the love to moe culture is something i really appreciate from the series, while many laugh at the community, Steins Gate shows us that is our world and we have nothing to be afraid of... Laugh at your own uniqueness... Without more to say i want to say thanks once again to the devs, to the community, to the characters themselves and to myself for choosing not to fall for easy and quick entertainment, instead choosing a true story that represents a community that lives on in our hearts.. To our Mad Scientist, Kyouma, Christina, Mayushii, Lukako, Shining Finger, Faris, our Super Hacka and our Part Time Warrior... thanks for being part of this lab... the future is uncertain, but we'll move forward... So I had a choice to see Steins Gate via this game or the anime for my first time exposure to it. In the end I picked this game. Clearly this is the choice of Steins Gate.
Apply the Committee of Zero patch to the game and enjoy all the routes. This is the real Steins;Gate. EL PSY KONGROO
