Super Meat Boy is a 2010 platform video game developed and published by American indie studio Team Meat. It was designed by Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes as the successor to Meat Boy, a 2008 Flash game designed by McMillen and Jonathan McEntee. In the game, the player controls Meat Boy, a red, cube-shaped character, as he attempts to rescue his girlfriend, Bandage Girl, from the game's antagonist Dr. Fetus. The gameplay is characterized by fine control and split-second timing, as the player runs and jumps through over 300 hazardous levels while avoiding obstacles. The game also supports the creation of player-created levels. Super Meat Boy was first released on the Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Arcade in October 2010, and was later ported to Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, and the Nintendo Switch. A Wii version was in development but was ultimately cancelled.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Pretty sure this is my favourite platformer of all time. Controls feel amazing, levels are perfectly designed for flow, dying and restarting is istant, the difficulty curve is beautiful, the final levels and some of the secret levels are so brutal I've never finished them (I got freakin blisters), there are tons of unique characters with unique traits, the music slaps ... It's a perfect platformer. 10/10.
English Version (french below) Oh boy this game. It's very simple in theory but it will drive you crazy in practice. It is VERY hard. I mean, in itself, the game isn't hard, it doesn't have any particular complex mechanics, it's just run, jump and wall jump (except for level-specific gimmicks) but the execution in each level gets progressingly so difficult that you will have to try 1000 times before actually getting it right. It's a die and retry if I've ever seen one. The game doesn't stop when you die, you directly get back to the beginning to try again. The artwork and story is simple but funny and effective. To make things even harder, the controls feel very... slippery, and it's definitely intentional. Not much to say except holy platinum difficulty. I will get back to it one day, but finishing each world without dying ONCE ? That is absolutely insane. It's a good game but holy hell if you're going for 100% (not even talking about the platinum), get ready for really really brutal levels.
very hard game. The Forest chapter was probably the most struggles i had since the 60's.
