The Darkest Files is a historical investigation and courtroom game based on true crimes of the Nazi era. Investigate cold cases, search for clues, interrogate witnesses, immerse the crimes and defend your case in court to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Runs well on modern hardware.

It so interesting how little we learn about the consequences of WWII for those who were guilty. It's a scary thought that so many of them were pardoned and continue to serve in high ranking institutions. But it certainly does explain the political rebirth of those horrible values. Its a really good game, sometimes fairly hard, but worth it.
This game made me reflect and try to make an effort to learn more about world history. Great game and good reads.
My recommending this game comes with one caveat: I would not pay full price for it as it currently stands. The game has beautiful art, and the story it tells is very sincerely a masterpiece. I cannot criticize any part of the gameplay, nor the player experience. But the game is, quite frankly, too short. My actual playtime was probably about 5 hours, and there are only two mysteries to solve - the first of which is free in the demo. I love every part of playing this game; the mysteries are compelling, the characters are interesting, you can pet the cat (!!) - but it feels like it is a long demo for an unfinished game, rather than a published completed product.
