The Forgotten City is a mystery adventure role-playing game developed by Australian developer Modern Storyteller and published by Dear Villagers with additional support from Film Victoria. It is a full game adaptation of the critically acclaimed Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim mod of the same name. Initially released in 2015 as a game mod, the full game was released in July 2021 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A cloud-based version launched in September 2021 for the Nintendo Switch.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Updating my review after fully finishing the game. First, it's not a long game. So keep that in mind. It took me around 10 hours to complete the main quests, side quests, and get all the endings. That being said, I highly recommend picking this game up at a price that feels comfortable to you given the run time. I got it on sale for $7 and it was more than worth it. I can see why this game is recommended to those who enjoyed Outer Wilds. It's much lighter on the puzzle elements, but the characters are interconnected in really interesting ways which were fun to uncover. There were some great tidbits of humor sprinkled in there as well. It's obvious the developers put a lot of love and attention-to-detail into the game, and it was fun to explore and discover its secrets.
Really intriguing mystery game where you're piecing together the reasons why you're there and what the fudge is going on with these people. It's extremely similar to Outer Wilds when it comes to the time loop mechanic and making the most of each loop in order find clues, answers, or manipulate events in a certain way. It kept me hooked for one sitting.
An amazing game, perfectly crafted from the Skyrim mod, staying true to the base lore while transcending it to new heights. 100% recommend.
