The Legend of Heroes VI: Trails in the Sky, later known as The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC, is a 2004 role-playing video game developed by Nihon Falcom. The game is the first in the Trails series, itself a part of the larger The Legend of Heroes series. Trails in the Sky was first released in Japan for Windows and was later ported to the PlayStation Portable in 2006.

Runs well on modern hardware.

I first played this on an emulator back in high school. Now that I can finally afford to buy it, I’m replaying the game that first made me fall in love with long-form storytelling. You follow Estelle, a Junior Bracer traveling to find her father who went missing on the job, only to find herself entangled in a conspiracy by a mysterious organization aiming to control the Kingdom of Liberl using ancient artifacts. The story is phenomenal even knowing the plot twists, they still hit just as hard. The gameplay is classic, but the Orbment system for customizing Arts is truly unique. It’s a mechanic that only gets better as the series progresses. A must-play for anyone looking to dive into this massive franchise.
This is the starting point of one of the best series I have ever played, spanning 13 titles to date (for now). If you are looking for a journey that rewards your time like no other, start here.
From top to bottom, this game is fantastic, with a special shout out going to the fast forward button; i will loathe every other RPG, just a little, for not having this feature.
