The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is a delightful surprise that successfully blends humor, mystery, and the beloved Sonic cast. The story is entertaining and full of clever twists, while the dialogue is well written and often genuinely funny. The charming visual style, combined with visual novel storytelling, investigation mechanics, and fun minigames, keeps the experience engaging from start to finish. Although it's relatively short, the game delivers a memorable story and plenty of fan service for Sonic fans. The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is a great example of how a free game can offer a polished and enjoyable adventure that's well worth playing.
I thought The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog was just going to be a silly joke game. I was wrong. At first, everything about it feels ridiculous. Sonic is apparently dead, everyone is a suspect, and you're playing as a completely ordinary employee trying to solve the case. It sounds like the kind of thing that exists purely for the joke. And honestly, it is hilarious. But somewhere along the way, the game starts feeling like an actual mystery adventure. The characters are funny, weird, and surprisingly charming. Even characters I never expected to care about ended up having moments that genuinely made me smile. The writing is probably what surprised me the most. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but it also understands these characters well enough to make the story feel like more than just a parody. And then there's the soundtrack. I wasn't expecting a Sonic murder mystery to have music this good. What I love most is how confidently the game commits to its ridiculous premise. It knows exactly how absurd it is, and instead of fighting that, it turns the absurdity into one of its biggest strengths. I've played games with bigger budgets, deeper mechanics, and much more ambitious stories. I don't remember all of them. I'll remember the time I investigated the murder of Sonic the Hedgehog. Some games are memorable because they're masterpieces. Some are memorable because they're completely ridiculous. The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog somehow manages to be both. 100% recommended.
