Casual playthrough ~4 hours Minor spoilers in this review! @MatureContent
Much like the first game, this is a fun little point and click adventure taking you through a world built up of paintings from the Renaissance. You this time play as a bloodthirsty soldier who is dissatisfied with the end of a holy war. The story continues off from where the story from the first game "Four Last Things" ended. The first game's main character John, or Immortal John as he is now known as, is the new leader of the people and sort of asks you to go kill the old leader, Heavenly Peter, or that is at least how our new main character interprets it. Immortal John is actually a pacifist, but whatever. Most of this story consists of you trying to complete a scavenger hunt for items to bribe the church men with who are blocking your way into Heavenly Peter's Basilica. Throughout this hunt you will meet many strange people and bear witness to many unholy events and there is in total three different endings. This game is quite a lot longer than the first game and it is quite a lot harder to piece together how to progress in the story. I must be honest, I used a guide throughout most of it, it was just a little too complicated for me. The writing and humor in this sequel is just as good if not even better than in the prequel and I therefore highly recommend actually reading through it. I got it on sale for like 3 bucks or something, which is a good price in my opinion, so I highly recommend it on sale. ————————————————————————————— Help me out by following my Curator, I’d really appreciate it!!
This game feels like someone turned old paintings into a Monty Python fever dream. The puzzles are weird, the jokes are dumb in the best way, and the whole thing makes art history feel completely unhinged. Would absolutely cause problems in a Renaissance painting again.
I haven't laughed that hard or that long playing a game in a long time. The only thing negative I can think of is it's just too short. I wish the game was a good 3 hours longer but I understand the "developer" doesn't have all the time in the world what with all the wars and stuff going on so I'll just wait for the next one pretty please with sprinkles on top? I'll keep my sword unsheathed just in case...
