...It's been a few days since I finished playing this, and I STILL have "My Actual Code" stuck in my head. "There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension" is a game- er, I mean, not a game...an experience? ...An experience that takes what made the Game Jam version fun and elevates them to new heights. The relationship between you and the voice with a Russian accent trying to persuade you that he is most definitely not the Game is fun, starting as semi-antagonistic but then, due to circumstances, turning into comraderie as you unite to defeat Mr. Glitch, which sets it apart from other player vs. narrator games like Please Don't and The Stanley Parable. The various setpieces were all quite fun, referencing various genres and iconic games in them while treating them with respect and admiration (except for "free-2-play" cash grabs, which is understandable). The puzzles are also creative, with Mr. Game's subtle not-hints often being some of the best jokes, and an additional, consequence-free Hint button if the solution is still unclear to the player. It was also a good length, telling the story it wanted without dragging on, though going in completely blind means that there's an achievement or two you'll need to replay nearly an entire chapter to obtain using information intended to be obtained later in the story. In conclusion, I highly recommend this game! ...Not-a-Game!
I absolutely loved this game and highly recommend it to fans of The Stanley Parable. It's another game that's best played without looking at guides/gameplay/etc. Pros: - Well voice acted - Plenty of moments had me laughing - Hints are useful when you get stuck - No puzzles have obtuse solutions Cons: - There were a few times I needed hints and either the only one available was the solution, or the only hints other than the solution were basically 'I know, but how do I do that?' sort of hints. Verdict: 10/10
the puzzles are kind of hard, you really have to think outside the box! would recommend though! very fun and fun to replay!
