Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a 2011 crossover fighting game developed by Capcom in collaboration with Eighting. It is an updated version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. The game features characters from both Capcom's video game franchises and comic book series published by Marvel Comics. It was originally released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 2011, then as a launch title for the PlayStation Vita in 2012, and later re-released on PlayStation 4, Windows and Xbox One.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Still a fantastic fighting game till this day. The visuals, gameplay, sounds, everything about it is still top tier. I got two teams I always play. For marvel always Spider-Man, Magneto and Doom. For Capcom it's daddy Redfield, Mr. West and Redfield's lover (Jill). I especially love playing as Chris when you can break every opponent's neck and doing it to Thor always makes me laugh. Also you know frank has covered wars right?
Update with no new features or purpose just broke the game for no reason
I love fighting games with crossovers! Actually, I love crossover in general. The best is when characters from different series have interactions (wich is something this game does NOT have). For this review I need to separate the experience on two sides.
Single Player
If you play alone there is a good amount of hours to enjoy for you across Arcade and Heroes&Heralds plus you have your standard Mission Mode to test your skill with specific characters and learn combos. Speaking of Combo this game have a super fluid system that allow you to start and end a match in a single combo: you can litterally hit your opponents second character before it even land on the screen and K.O. it with an Aerial Combo without it even playing wich let's be honest is cool if you are not playing against a human (I'll tell more about it in the Online section. There is no Story Mode wich is a HUGE missed opportunity even more considered that the characters ending are not related to the story incipit shown at the start nor they contribute in writing a story. If you play Arcade for the ending, it feels dull and empty of satisfaction. Heroes&Heralds can be played Online or Offline and consist into challenging several team on different territory in order to acquire that territory. You can aim at defeating specific characters on your Wanted list to achieve a Bingo (you'll see what I mean if you'll play). Additionally, the game spice up the matches by allowing you to acquire cards to equip, wich will give you (and to the enemies) bonus and special effect (collecting cards is fun when they don't try to scam you to steal your money).
Online
As always, I'll state the obvious: the Online is "dead", populated only by the hardcore fans that you'll need to go find on some semi-unknown and unpublicized Discord server. And if you are new to the game or the genre entirely you'll have a hard time finding someone of your league. As I mentioned before this game have a very fluid combo system. Generally, in fighting game you'll find yourself trapped in a combo soon or later, it's bound to happen when you'll run against the good player but because in this game chaining combo is WAY TOO EASY it will happen a lot at all levels of skill, rising the frustration for casual or beginners alike. You'll hardly find a way to escape and set foot on the ground again. To change the subject, the player pool was almost zero even on the same day of the huge discount. Even now I'm playing Ranked against the same person wich is wild.
Conclusion
Pick it up when on Historical Low if you are a huge fan of the MvC or Fighting games but know that the main experience you'll have will rely on the Single Player. Unless you have friends that also have the game or you are willing to get into a Discord server and maybe find someone to sparr and train.
