It doesn't get any better than this. This game is peak. Every time I fire this game up now, I still have loads of fun. My hours played are far more than what's shown on Steam. This is one of those games that is built from the ground up to be fun, not just to look nice. While the shaders and lighting are outdated, the textures are fantastic and the art style is great. It's packed with different modes and features, yet remains focused and engaging to play. It's easy to mod, easy to start playing, hard to master if playing competitively, but always easy to have fun. There have been attempts to make newer arena shooters like this, but none of them get enough right to compete with the gem that is Unreal Tournament 2004. The ragdoll physics and gibs are fun, the gibs sounds are unforgettable, and anyone who plays this knows just how satisfying it is to murk someone with the flak cannon up close. Unreal Tournament 2004 has always stood out to me as the one game I can always count on to be a thrill to play every time.
I don't like The Epic Games Store, I think Fortnite is childish, and I don't like the recent update with The Unreal Engine, But my Gods! I love how Epic Games is perfectly fine with abandonware as they are like "Go ahead!" just like they did with ZZT. So Epic Games did what Nintendon't!
This was the best game ever.
