V Rising is a 2024 action role-playing survival game developed and published by Stunlock Studios. It was first released in early access for Windows in May 2022, and was officially released two years later, with a PlayStation 5 version released on June 11, 2024. Within a week, it had surpassed one million sales.

I started this expecting a basic vampire survival game. In truth, it is a vampire real estate simulator with over 60 unique bosses. You spend your time dodging the sun, hunting specific blood types, and farming materials to expand your base. The castle design system is excellent. It gives you full control to build a massive gothic mansion. The different vampire abilities you unlock from bosses will feel lore friendly Then there is the drip. Man, the drip. Even the early tier 2 armor is impeccablly tasteful to the point u will feel like ur the count himself.. You can tell the developers put their heart and soul into this. Kudos to them for designing such a beautiful game.
The game itself is great, nice mechanics and atmosphere, gradually growing in power and basebuilding is awesome. The issue that killed it for me is the forced play. Was already a bit burned out on it, but I couldn't play for a few weeks and when I returned EVERYTHING I had built was gone. Had no idea it would happen, knew about the base decay mechanics but the landscape was full of bases that seemed 'dormant' so I thought the worst that would happen is I would have to re-unlock some stuff. Nope, all gone. Well, was nice while it lasted, ain't gonna start from scratch. So, if you don't mind that you will be on a treadmill until you're done, or with foreknowledge ensure you're on a server that won't wipe you, get it, if you have other things to do it will become a chore avoiding progress wipe.
Played the game in co-op with a friend, skipping completely the PVP part. The gameplay is great, the story is rich, fighting is challenging and there are so many interesting mechanics such as the blood quality, the slave collecting,... And the inventory management... Hmm... So freaking gorgeous ! Other games' chest systems feel so frustrating when you compare it to V Rising's. One of my favourite hidden gems !
