Wandering Sword is a Wuxia-style pixel RPG. Play as a young man from Liao City in the Outer Lands who is accidentally drawn into a feud between two rival sects. Being in the wrong place at a wrong time results in getting poisoned with the lethal Frozen Toad. However, you are fortunate enough to have Qingxu, Sect Leader of Wudang, come to your aid and save your life. This is your turning point: the moment you decide to become a great warrior and enter the land of the Central Plains.

Runs well on modern hardware.

I've played just about every JRPG out there since I started gaming in the 90s and this earned its way onto my top 5 and it may even place higher depending on how much I enjoy it over the coming years. I truly just want this dev to make another game or a sequel to this as its easily among the most underrated JRPGs from the past 5+ years. Okay so the gameplay is a mix of octopath traveller, suikoden, and and tales of. You will likely auto a lot of your way through battles because you fight so many and while it may get somewhat repetitive, they go so fast that it didn't get old for me really. An extremely replayable game that I still haven't gotten the best of yet after going through a new game +, so good challenges for players that like that sort of thing. Story is where the game actually shines for me, its just got the great feel of a swordsman like ruroni kenshin or something just making your way throughout the lands helping people. Music is good though maybe not its strongest point (its not like uematsu is composing here) but it fits its scenes well. Overall this is a 9/10 for me. It deserves its spot among greats in my list that includes legendary titles such as chrono trigger and xenoblade.
1 playthrough, 83 hours, and many MANY choices later Wandering Sword has become one of my favorite RPGs. There are so many outcomes and choices to so many things, it's truly a shining example of player agency. 9.5/10. Yaoyao best girl.
The game is just so good I don't know where to begin... I've gotta be on my 6th playthrough by now or something. 6 playthroughs, and by the way, I discover something new EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Some random things that are just fabulous about Wandering Sword: 1. THE CHARACTER ART HELLO??? 2. The fact that new updates and DLC just keep coming out 3. The music oh my lands 4. WEI HUO 5. Stunning visuals and pixel scenery 6. YAN WEIHUAN 7. There is soooo much story and plot content that I sometimes get lost in the sauce but I LOVE that, because I'd rather have too much story than too little, without a doubt 8. DID I MENTION HUO AND WEIHUAN Just get the game yall
