Wandering Sword is a Wuxia-style pixel RPG. Play as a young man from Liao City in the Outer Lands who is accidentally drawn into a feud between two rival sects. Being in the wrong place at a wrong time results in getting poisoned with the lethal Frozen Toad. However, you are fortunate enough to have Qingxu, Sect Leader of Wudang, come to your aid and save your life. This is your turning point: the moment you decide to become a great warrior and enter the land of the Central Plains.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Highly recommend this game if you like old school JRPGs and wuxia settings in games. This game was the first one I installed on my steamdeck as there was no mac version that I could run on my laptop :( Wow, what a relaxing and nice game. It has exploration, beautiful graphics (octopath traveller reignited my love for JRPGs), an interesting progression and leveling system and way too many sidequests. The story is nice, wuxia standard stuff nothing too new. Which is ok, for me the game was the cozy place to got to before falling asleep. Save anywhere, use autobattle (GREAT FEATURE!), make some progress, experience the story and all the companions a bit. The translation to english is great and good enough to really enjoy the game. My main gripes with the game are the following: - way too long :D I somehow expected it to be <30h of content. Now I invested nearly 80h including DLCs and still havent completed it yet.. for some it might be a plus but I would prefer just a sequel that I can play after finishing something within 20h - Too few audio tracks, for the first 10-30h it was fine but after that the music repeats way too often. maybe an update or new DLC could deliver new bgm - The hero is just crazy perfect - no flaws at all?? ;) Thank you for this great game and also providing a translation for international players! It works great on the deck with full controller support! I'd rate it 9/10 with all the additional content.
This is my first time playing this type of game and I am gratefully surprised I have broken the seal. This game is simply beautiful with its animations and colouring, even though it's pixelated. Story line is keeping me engaged though the introduction to this culture is twisting my brain a bit and at the same time keeping me intrigued to learn more about it. I have no context of the Octopath games though looking at the similarity in style, I think I should broaden my library. A game like Wandering sword at an affordable price point made me do the plunge. Looking forward in spending more hours in Wandering Sword.
This game is really great. As a manhwa reader who’s familiar with the martial arts genre, I’m truly satisfied playing it—it’s like becoming the main character in a manhwa.
