What the Golf? is a 2019 sports video game developed and published by Danish studio Triband. It was originally released for iOS, macOS and tvOS through Apple Arcade by The Label on 19 September 2019 as a launch title for the service, with a visionOS version also released on the service in 2024 by Team17 USA, The Label's successor. Ports for Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 were released by Triband, respectively in 2019, 2020 and 2024. The game received critical acclaim for its surreal humor and gameplay, winning multiple awards and becoming one of Apple Arcade's most popular titles. It was followed up by What the Car? and What the Clash?.

Runs well on modern hardware.

WHAT THE GOLF? introduces it self right in the beginning, where it shows you that this game takes it self in a silly way. This game is visually appealing and easy going during the beginning. The game can be incredibly fun and incredibly painful at the same time. This problem occurs once you are half way done with the game. Levels on the second half become stupidly hard and it ruins the fun of WHAT THE GOLF?. I love the references here to media, such as: Guitar Hero, Flappy Bird, Super Hot, Portal and much more. It's fun to see these. The biggest up for this game is the endgame content. I must give the devs an applause for that. Over all, WHAT THE GOLF? deserves a solid 8.5/10.
100% What the Golf on 10/20/2024. It is a mini golf game... or a mini soccer game? Maybe a first person shooter? Anyway, it at least starts off as a mini golf game but each level will keep having you say, "what the F... Golf!". Very fun game, highly recommend.
WHAT THE GOLF? is absolutely one of the funniest games I’ve played in a long time. I bought it for less than 1 euro and I don’t regret it at all — I had a fantastic time with it. What we have here is a game that’s basically a mix of puzzles and physics‑based challenges. And it’s definitely not a game about golf 😊. The first few levels may look like you’re about to play regular golf and complete one hole after another, but that impression disappears almost immediately — the developers let their imagination run wild. The further you go, the more creative and absurd the levels become. There are TONS of levels, and each one comes with TWO EXTRA VARIANTS — sometimes slightly harder, but often completely changing the rules of the original level. And then you start encountering stages that reference popular games (like SUPERHOT, Super Mario, Among Us, Portal, Guitar Hero — I could go on and on). The controls are wacky, but in my opinion that’s actually a plus — it fits the game’s humor perfectly. I played through the entire game using an Xbox controller quite comfortably, except for one FPS level (yes, there are a few FPS levels). That one clearly wasn’t designed with a controller in mind, so I had to switch to a mouse to get through it. Visually and musically, the game is solid. The graphics are nice and colorful, and the music is funny — though it does get a bit repetitive after a while. I definitely recommend WHAT THE GOLF? to anyone looking for something light or relaxing. It’s perfect for short sessions, since most levels take just a few seconds to complete. I already can’t wait to see what the developers have prepared in their other game — WHAT THE CAR?.
