TLDR: this game has dailly caps and rng heavy gear grind that leads to it feeling like a job where every day you hop on to do nothing but grind making it a missarable experience The base game is fine i trully wish i could recomend it since i've been having a blast with hunting bosses on legend difficulty thanks to it having solid combat/great bosses The real issue is the grind for the gear, you can get around 25 gear pieces a day due to energy cap (+20 from grinding) out of these only a couple will be of the max quality and then even fewer will actually be usefull for your build due to gear type/set, so out of the around 50 drops you will likelly only get 1 thats good for your build, and after days of grinding to finally get a good gear set (not great just good) guess what? now you hit the breakthrough so you can level up and your gear is obsolete This means that its time to go back to the grind what a great experience. Not only that but you can't even enjoy hunting bosses since they level up to your level, meaning if you level up you will be too weak to beat even the first boss thanks to your ex gear set being a paperweight, so once you get past the level cap you cant fight the bosses anymore until you reach the current level cap and grind the best gear for it which would take ages. For reference in my 70 hours i reached lvl 60 (which was the cap) killed half the bosses (had to stop once i reached lvl 50 due to the above issue) and had yet to actually get a single full set of gear, the closest i got(after 2 weeks of dailly gear grinding) was 1 full set and 2 half sets with 2 of the gear pieces being of lower quallity/level for the set bonus.
Great graphics, great gameplay and pvp potential, great music, lots and lots of social elements to enjoy. I love playing the game in both PvE and PvP, but you don't get enough things to do to actually enjoy the gameplay and they don't do anything to fix game-breakingly bad bugs especially in PvP. The rewards for every event or daily log ins are ridiculously minor and either obsolete or such a joke of a reward, you coulde've spent 5 minutes of your time in the game and have gotten 10 times as many rewards. In addition, all of the relatively decent looking cosmetics are locked behind paywalls, and that includes anything that gives you more energy to enjoy playing the game more. I recommend the game because its good fun and an enjoyable experience despite the many glaring drawbacks that will likely never get addressed. If any devs ever read this, please first focus on fixing bugs and give us more ways to play the PvE and PvP rather than implementing many temporary random minigame events that give next to no rewards.
I love this game, much more than I initially expected to. The story and characters are intriguing and have substance and no pointless yapping but are still expansive and interesting. The graphics and optimization are top-notch (runs quite well on my mid-range PC from 2017), excluding the size of the game, which is only to be expected, given its size and content density. The gameplay is very fun too, with a plethora of satisfying weapons and martial arts and more fantastical skills you can pull off. Overall, it's a very unique and charming experience that combines Action-RPG elements (e.g. Witcher 3, Ghost of Tsushima, later Assassin's Creed titles), with MMORPG elements (e.g. PSO2/NGS, FFXIV), anchored in Chinese history and Wuxia aesthetic. And for the elephant in the room, yes, it's free to play. Yes, it has a Gacha system, but it's almost exclusively for cosmetics, and its rates suck. It's hard to complain though, with the actual game being fully free and not pay to win at all. There's some cosmetics that are crazy expensive, though, so aspiring whales beware. It's worth a try, at least. And there's plenty of good reasons to stay. Also the community is very welcoming, which is always a positive for MMO-style games. Another cool option is the ability to play either online or solo; pick and choose as you like, whenever you like. Note: I haven't played a staggering amount of hours, and I'm pretty early on in the story still, since I'm a busy adult and I started playing recently, but I'll keep updating this review if I find something worth mentioning (e.g. endgame).
