⭐ 8/10 - Came for My Girlfriend, Stayed for the Witchcraft and Coffee Empire If you had told me a year ago that I'd be spending dozens of hours playing a cozy farming game about a witch running a farm in a small town, I probably would've laughed. Then my girlfriend convinced me to play Wylde Flowers. Turns out she was right. What surprised me most was how much heart the game has. The characters feel genuinely likable, the voice acting is excellent, and the story has far more depth than I expected. What starts as a relaxing farming sim slowly unfolds into a charming tale about family, friendship, community, and a healthy amount of magical shenanigans. The daily gameplay loop is incredibly relaxing. Growing crops, raising animals, gathering ingredients, brewing potions, and helping townsfolk never felt like a chore. The game does a great job respecting your time while still giving you plenty to work toward. That said, I accidentally discovered that Fairhaven's economy is apparently held together by duct tape and optimism. Very early on I started mass-producing and selling coffee. A lot of coffee. An unreasonable amount of coffee. At some point I stopped being a farmer and became a caffeine-fueled economic superpower. While the rest of the town was worrying about magical mysteries, I was personally responsible for enough coffee exports to crash several neighboring markets. Money quickly stopped being a concern after that. Despite completely breaking the economy, I still had an amazing time. The writing kept me invested, the seasonal story progression was satisfying, and I genuinely looked forward to seeing what happened next with the characters. The reason it lands at an 8/10 instead of higher is that some of the gameplay systems can feel a bit simple, and once you figure out how to make money efficiently, a lot of the progression challenge disappears. But honestly, that's not really why I was playing by the end. I was playing because I cared about the town and the people in it. 8/10 I started playing because my girlfriend asked me to. I kept playing because Fairhaven was charming, the characters were great, and because I had become the wealthiest coffee baron in the history of magical agriculture.
This game is just amazing. I love love love cosy games and this is honestly one of the best.
Did not expect when I picked up this game to spend nearly 100 hrs on one play through! The gameplay loop is simple, but oh so addictive. The island and its citizens are charming, and the mystery and small town drama is fun to get lost in. Definitely recommend to any fan of cozy games or urban fantasy!
