Yakuza 0 is a 2015 action-adventure game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega. It is the sixth main installment in the Yakuza series and a prequel to the original game. It was released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan in March 2015, and in North America and Europe for PlayStation 4 in January 2017. It was released on Windows on 1 August 2018 and on Xbox One on 26 February 2020. An enhanced version, titled Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut was released for Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 June 2025; it later released on other platforms on December 8 of that year.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Please, SEGA. Just bring back this one out of delisting limbo. The original Yakuza 0 is widely considered the superior way to experience the game's story, despite the release of the Director's Cut in late 2025, the original story is considered more cohesive. Most critics of the Director's Cut point out that its new cutscenes (roughly 26 minutes of added content) introduce questionable retcons and "pointless" additions that can actually detract from the emotional impact of certain scenes. For many players, the "phone booth" saving system in the original is a core part of its 1980s retro charm. The Director's Cut allows saving anywhere, which some argue makes the experience slightly less immersive. Please, SEGA. No more delisting games that are far better than their replacements. I accept new versions, but it will be nice if just let the originals and their new versions existing together. More profits for you, because veteran and noob gamers, old or young, can enjoy it to each their own.
[h3] This is another great Yakuza game, And Yes, you can start the Yakuza series with this one, but you wont get the most out of it. I recommend playing in release order, including the two PS2 titles and the best versions of those two are the “Restored” ones (You can find them in the sea).
The real start of the Yakuza series and man, what a game this is. From start to finish it's oozing with charm and charisma and it's now one of my favourite games of all time. The story. Oh boy, it's a well written rollercoaster of emotions and it has immersed me from start to finish. This is one of the few games where i actually never skip the cutscenes because it always manages to put me on my toes and intrigue me on what's gonna happen next. The characters are all extremely well written too and feel real. As the story progresses you will really feel for them as they go through hell and back for Kiryu to clear his name and for Majima to protect a blind girl and return to the Yakuza. I espacially like how well interconnected both side of the stories are, and switching from one to another is smooth and doesn't feel dejointed or weird. The pacing itself is really good too and no cutscene feels like it's overstayed it's welcome like many other movie games do. Gameplay wise it's a very basic beat em up but it controls really well. There's tons of moves you can unlock so there's lots of veriety on how you approach each combat section. The finishing animations are espacially satisfying to pull of as they are brutal and a great dopamine rush. The world itself is beautiful and super immersive with Osaka feeling like a real place thanks to all the NPCs walking around doing their own thing and all the quriky side quests you get to partake in that always end up being a hilarious rollercoaster of events. Notable highlight for me, being the dominatrix side quest where you get to help a dominatrix get some confidence. On a part of the side quest you can yell how much you want to be punished at her in front of some children in a playground and it's hilarious. I won't spoil the rest as it's better to experience them yourself as there's tons of them. Believe me, they are a treat. And if the side quests weren't enough for you there's tons of activities you can partake in, thr most popular among many being the dancing as all the songs are bangers and you get to watch Majima turn into a idol with some really good dance moves. There's also pool, darts, racing and many more that i can't list here because the list is overwhelming. You can also have your own business and there's tons of them. Overall, a incredible experience from start to finish and one that i will always remember. Can't wait to jump into the rest of the games even if i have spoiled myself thanks to the thousands of Yakuza compilations that exists on YT. Oh yeah, for a sidenote ♥♥♥♥ YOU SEGA for delisting the original for a overpriced remaster with an average MP mode.
